Book 'Never Dream of the Wild Hunt'

"Plague, smallpox, and tick infestation!", Jannis mutters as he wakes up cold and hungry. Because he didn't lay in any provisions during the summer, he is forced to get up. With Wendel, the bogyman, he sets off in search of his friend Motte. She is on her way with Amsel Salamander, who finally wants to write his "Book of Everything". But it is the time of the twelve nights of Christmas, the nights of the Wild Hunt, when the Queen of the Sky and her subjects fly out into the night to spread fear and terror...

"The Wild Hunt, Motte," said Wendel. "The twelve nights of Christmas belong to her. Then the Queen of the Sky sweeps across the forest. The Perchta, Motte! The Perchta! And she is a mighty queen, oha! And her servants follow her like a tail. Like a tail to a comet. Oha! Witches, Motte! Sorcerers! The Wode! I heard the Wode blow his hunting horn. I saw the night ravens coming from the sky. Like a flock of starlings. Like a single bird made of many birds. I saw it. Oha!"
