Santa Claus had battled his way through a blizzard. Only when he reached the village did he discover, to his horror, the hole through which all the little gifts had tumbled into the snow. How could he possibly explain this to the disappointed children? Quite unexpectedly, the lonely woodcutter Ruprecht came to his aid. He had gathered all the gifts, and St. Nicholas Day was saved. In the seemingly eccentric loner Ruprecht, Santa Claus finally found the helper he had been searching for. And the villagers, too, began to adjust their perception of Ruprecht.

Kathrin Siegenthaler's story, for a change, pays tribute to Santa Claus's faithful helper. Marcus Pfister creates a magical winter atmosphere with delicate colors and gently flowing patterns.
